The Tiburcio Tancinco Memorial Institute of Science and Technology (TTMIST), Calbayog City, is now accepting applications for the 5th Lamiraw Creative Writing Workshop to be held on November 5-7, 2008. The theme for this year’s Workshop is “An pagsurat [sin] siday pagparig-on san aton pinulungan” (Free translation: To write poetry is to strengthen our language).
Anyone who writes in Waray, Cebuano, Hinabaknon, or English whose literary works pass the Lamiraw evaluation process are encouraged to join. Local writers in Region 8 are most welcome to join.
Teachers teaching high school or college Literature or Panitikan courses who write in signifying their desire to attend the workshop will also be considered. The first five teachers who write in will be given priority to attend the Workshop for free. Auditors, on the other hand, have a registration fee of Php 3,000.00 each.
Each applicant for fellowship should send in a collection of any of the following: 3 poems, 1 short story, 2 essays, 1 one-act play, or any reasonable combination of the above in hardcopy and a diskette containing the manuscripts and your application form in Microsoft Word, Font Size 12. Entries may also be sent through e-mail.
Include in your submission a one-page curriculum vitae with your name, address, educational background, and writing experience if any. Also include a statement from one person of authority attesting to the originality of your creative works.
